City of Florence Resilience and Sustainability Advisory Committee Partners with Keep Florence Beautiful to Organize Earth Day Cleanup Event.

FLORENCE, SCThe City of Florence Resilience & Sustainability Advisory Committee is excited to announce its upcoming Earth Day cleanup event scheduled for Monday, April 22nd, starting at 9:00 am at Naturally Outdoors, located at 2519 W Palmetto St, Florence, SC 29501.

The Resilience and Sustainability Advisory Committee collaborates with the Community Development Committee and the City Manager to advise City Council on programs and initiatives, including the "Sustainability and Climate Action Plan," to position the city as a leader in sustainability.

This year they are partnering with Keep Florence Beautiful, who will be providing safety vests and gloves for all participants. The public is invited and encouraged to participate.

Details for the event are as follows:

  • Date: Monday, April 22nd, Earth Day
  • Registration: Starts at 9:00 am at Naturally Outdoors (KFB requires a release to be signed by participants)
  • Event Duration: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (unless concluded earlier)
  • Location: The cleanup will span from the Rail Trail to the bridge on West Palmetto Street near Naturally Outdoors.
  • Activity: Volunteers will focus on picking up trash and debris along the banks of Jeffries Creek. Participants are advised to wear shoes that can withstand wet conditions. Gloves and safety vests will be provided.

Mindy Taylor, Chair of the City of Florence Resilience and Sustainability Advisory Committee, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "Earth Day is a great opportunity to celebrate natural places of beauty like Jeffries Creek in our great city and work alongside our citizens to ensure they can be enjoyed for generations to come."
