Youth Sports Programs
The City of Florence Recreation Department, in association with the Florence Youth Basketball League, hosts a youth basketball program for kids in the Florence area. With over 400 youth participating, the league is one of the most popular activities offered in the city area.
The fee is $36 per participant. Youth ages 5 to 17 years of age can participate. All ages are determined by their age as of September 1st of the registration year.

The City of Florence Recreation Department hosts several youth baseball leagues within the City of Florence. Nearly 1,000 youth play baseball at one of the local City of Florence ballparks. League participation is dependent upon the participant’s location of residence. The parks within the City of Florence are sanctioned by Little League Baseball and Dixie Baseball.
The leagues are provided for participants ranging from the age of 5 to 15 years of age. Playing age is determined by the participant’s age as of April 30th, 2018 of the current year, except for P.A.L.S Little League. The age cutoff for those participants is August 31st, 2018. The fee to participate is $41 per participant. Registration is conducted online, or by going to the Recreation Department’s administrative offices located at the Barnes Street Activity Center.

The City of Florence Recreation Department, in association with the Florence Soccer Association, hosts a youth soccer program for the Florence community. There are two seasons each year which offer league play – fall and spring.
The league is provided for youth ranging from the age of 4 to 18 years of age. All ages are determined as of December 31, 2019 for the upcoming fall and spring leagues. League fee is dependent upon the participant’s residence. The fee is $46 per participant for residents in Florence County, $66 for non-residents. For more information you can visit flosoccer.org.

League participation is dependent upon the participant’s location of residence. The fee is $46 per participant.

The City of Florence Recreation Department, in association with the Chick-Fil-A Florence Junior Football League, hosts a youth football program for kids in the Florence area. Over 600 youth sign-up each year to participate in this popular program.
The league is composed of participants ranging from the age of 5 to 12 years of age. Playing age is determined by the participant’s age as of September 1st. The fee to participate is $46 per participant. Registration is conducted online, or by going to the Recreation Department’s administrative offices located at the Barnes Street Activity Center and registration begins July 1st.

The Florence Track Club is made up of volunteer coaches, parents and youth athletes ages 6 to 18 who participate in USATF sanctioned Jr. Olympic Track & Field and Cross Country events. Playing age is the participant’s age during the calendar year, or if the participant turns 19 after the USATF National Meet. The program is in association with the City of Florence Parks and Recreation Department, and is sponsored by the Police Athletics League.
Participants also compete in local road races, school sponsored Track & Field and Cross Country events, and other club sponsored events around the state of South Carolina. The fee to participate is $41. Registration is conducted online, or by going to the Recreation Department’s administrative offices located at the Barnes Street Activity Center. The City of Florence Recreation Department offers a fall volleyball league for girls and boys ages 7-17 based on your age as of September 1st. The league is an instructional based league that focuses on teaching the fundamentals of volleyball. The cost of the league is $41 and all practices and games are played at the Pearl Moore Basketball Center located at 500 Barnes Street.
2021 FALL SEASON

The City of Florence gymnastics program is packed with high energy and octane. Both competition and skills development are a focus at this facility. Participants will learn not only sound techniques but they will also learn life-skills that will help them develop as teens, young adults and adults.
The center is a 12,000 square foot air-conditioned building with many different types of gymnastics features, such as a 20×20 loose-foam training pit, a 8×30 bar training pit, a 42×42 spring tumbling floor, multiple sets of uneven bars, balance beams, vaulting tables, a 25 foot tumble track, parallel bars, rings, and several additional learning aids. There is a separate preschool room outfitted with small-scale equipment adapted to better accommodate younger children. A large lobby with vending machines, viewing windows, and tables are available for all parents and guests.
PROGRAMS DETAILS- Currently the City of Florence is not conducting Recreation Gymnastics Classes
Parents/Tots, Age 1 ½ Through 2
This program is designed to get younger children in an active environment. Specifically designed exercises and gymnastics related tasks will help develop basic motor skills and coordination. We ask that Mom or Dad assist and join in the fun. Class time is 35 minutes.
Preschool, Age 3 and 4
In these classes, the child will participate without help from Mom or Dad. They’ll be introduced to skills and tasks that develop increased confidence and a feeling of accomplishment. Class time is 35 minutes.
Preschool, Age 5
In these classes, the child will participate without help from Mom or Dad. They’ll be introduced to skills and tasks that develop increased confidence and a feeling of accomplishment. The class will be more challenging and will be adapted to the child’s skill level. Class time is 45 minutes.
Recreational, 6 and UP
In this program children learn the basic skills needed for a strong foundation in the sport of gymnastics. These classes are non-competitive but challenging. Each child will have an opportunity to participate at his or her own pace and ability level.
We have competitive teams for all levels. Admission to our team is by evaluation and invitation only. The teams compete in USAG and AAU Sanctioned events and travel extensively throughout the southeast as well as other parts of the country. Our program has won numerous state championships, national championships, and has sent gymnasts to Regional and National Competitions. A number of Competitive Team Members have received college scholarships for their gymnastics abilities.
Prices are as follows (subject to change) and are paid by the session:
- Fee for all participants is $100 for a 10 week session.
- Insurance is provided in registration fee.
- The insurance coverage year runs December 1st through November 30th.

The City of Florence offers a Recreational based Cheer Program during the fall and is for kids ages 5 to 14. During the season the cheerleaders will cheer during the Florence Football League games and will perform during the annual Pecan Festival. Each cheerleader will be taught basic fundamentals, technique, and teamwork. Registration for the cheer program will begin on August 1st and the cost is $46
