Animal Shelter

The City of Florence, in coordination with the Florence Area Humane Society, maintains the Jayne Boswell Animal Shelter located at 1434 S. McCurdy Road, Florence, South Carolina. 29506.
NOTE: The Shelter is now back to our normal operating hours:
Tuesday-Saturday, 12pm to 5pm.
The shelter is closed on all City of Florence Holidays as posted on the main page of the city's website.

All animals inside the facility are cared for by City of Florence staff. All prospective adopters must complete a FAHS pre-adoption application that will be reviewed by Florence Area Humane Society representatives.

Florence Area Humane Society - Contact and Adoption Info:
All pet adoptions are processed solely by Florence Area Humane Society volunteers. Upon completion of a pre-adoption application, the prospective adopter will be interviewed by an approved FAHS representative and notified if they are approved or denied.. If deemed necessary, the FAHS representative may require a site visit at the location where the animal will be placed. The FAHS has the right to refuse an adoption as they deem fit.
