FLORENCE, SC –   The City of Florence will hold a ceremony on Tuesday, December 14th at 4:00pm for the naming of the City’s Municipal Courtroom in City Council Chambers, 1st Floor at the City Center, 324 W. Evans Street.  An unveiling of a new plaque will follow in the courtroom.

In May, City Council approved Resolution 2021-13 formally designating the City of Florence Municipal Courtroom at 324 West Evans Street as “The Honorable William Howard ‘Taft’ Guile, Jr. Courtroom” for Judge Guile’s instrumental role as a municipal court judge and for his many years of service to the Florence Community.  Judge Guile served as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Florence from 2009 until his death in January 2021.  He gave a lifetime of service to Florence and was a well-respected leader.

The ceremony will be livestreamed through the City’s You Tube Channel, which can be accessed through the City of Florence website at www.cityofflorence.com, and then click on the drop-down menu for “Government”, followed by selecting “Web Broadcast” which is located under the heading “City Council”.  Due to limited seating and to allow appropriate seating for family, the public is encouraged to view the ceremony online.  The press is invited to attend.  Masks are required.
