City of Florence Names New Public Works Director

FLORENCE, SC – The City of Florence is pleased to announce the promotion of Adam Swindler as the new Public Works Director effective July 29, 2023. This selection follows the retirement of former Public Works Director, Chuck Pope.
Swindler began his career with the City of Florence Public Works Department 16 years ago after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management from Clemson University. He joined the department as an Athletic Specialist in 2007. His hard work and dedication to the City earned him several promotions over the years to include Athletic Coordinator, Beautification and Facilities Division Manager and, most recently, Public Works Department Manager.
“The City is very fortunate to have someone of Adam’s character and professionalism available to assume leadership of the City of Florence Public Works Department,” said City Manager Randall Osterman. “Adam’s expansive knowledge of the Public Works Department will be an asset in our continued efforts to provide excellent service to the community.”

I will strive to build strong relationships with our employees to increase positivity among workgroups and maximize workflow to meet the needs of the public.
