City of Florence, Florence One Schools, and the Housing Authority of Florence Partner to Provide Free After School Tutoring Program

FLORENCE, SC –   The City of Florence, Florence One Schools, and the Housing Authority of Florence have partnered to offer a free after school tutoring program for area students.  The program will begin on Tuesday, February 15th with tutoring sessions scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 – 6:00pm for 9 weeks, excluding winter intercession. 

Dr. O’Malley, with Florence One Schools, has coordinated to provide twelve teachers who will assist at three City of Florence Community Centers to include Northwest Park Community Center, Barnes Street Activity Center, and Dr. Iola Jones Park Community Center.  Tutoring will be available in all subjects for students K – 8th grades. 

City Manager, Randy Osterman, commended the partners stating that “success is built on community partnerships, and he appreciates the collaborative effort demonstrated by Florence One Schools, the Housing Authority of Florence, and city staff to recognize a need and come together to create this service for our community youth.”
