FLORENCE, SC  The City of Florence is in the process of upgrading all accounts to radio-read meters and currently have converted over half of the utility’s meters. Beginning Monday, October 2, 2023, Advanced Meter Installation (AMI), a contractor working for the City of Florence, will begin work to complete the upgrade for the remaining accounts. It is anticipated that it will take the contractor a year to complete this work.

Work hours for AMI technicians will be 8:00am – 5:00pm, with some work occurring on weekends. Customers will experience a brief service interruption of 10-15 minutes on average, unless problems arise, and additional time is required. Meter technicians will attempt to notify customers at the residence before shutting off the water to remove the old meter. If necessary, bushes or shrubs may be trimmed to provide appropriate access to the meter box as permitted by City of Florence Code of Ordinances, Sections 12-125 and 12 - 130(b), https://library.municode.com/sc/florence/codes/code_of_ordinances.

Images are attached so that our customers are able to identify the trucks, logos, and uniforms for AMI and its technicians. Customers with questions regarding this project should call 844-529-5913.
