2021 Public Servant of the Year - Chief Allen Heidler

The City of Florence is proud to announce that Chief Allen Heidler was the recipient of the 2021 Public Servant of the Year, presented by the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce and Francis Marion University.  This award was presented to Chief Heidler by Mayor Teresa Myers-Ervin at the Annual Outlook Luncheon hosted by the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce.  Due to his humble nature, Chief Heidler was not aware he was the recipient of this award until half-way through the Mayor’s speech.

In presenting him with this award, the mayor had this to say about Chief Heidler:

“I have observed him lead with empathy, sympathy, and authority.  I have witnessed his compassion and leadership as he assisted Florence through heartache and through loss…When I think about this gentleman, I think about the fact that he has served with the City of Florence for 35 years with the City of Florence Police Department.”

Congratulations to Chief Heidler on this well-deserved award.
