FLORENCE, SC –   The City of Florence will temporarily interrupt water service on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. for customers on Bentree Lane, Wildwood Drive, Holly Circle, Lockhaven Drive, Woodland Drive, and the 2200-2400 blocks of West Palmetto Street.  This planned disruption is necessary to connect a new water main along Holly Circle as part of improvements related to the South Carolina Department of Transportation’s (SCDOT) road-widening project.

Once service is restored, the water lines will be flushed, during which time, customers may temporarily notice some discoloration of water. Customers may also notice trapped air in their plumbing, which will be released as water is initially used.

As a precaution to protect public health, the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) requires a Boil Water Advisory to be issued to affected residents whenever water service is temporarily disconnected. This is due to the expected loss of water pressure, which can potentially allow bacteria to enter the system. The advisory will remain in effect until testing confirms the water is safe to drink. Water customers in this area are encouraged to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking until notified by the City of Florence. Any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes. The attached map below illustrates the highlighted areas which will be impacted. Test results for bacteriological quality should be completed on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at which time the City of Florence will notify customers regarding the status of the boil water advisory.

The City of Florence recognizes the inconvenience that a service disruption creates and asks for the patience of our customers while crews complete necessary repairs.

Should you have questions concerning this notice, please contact the City of Florence Utilities Department at 843-665-3236 or the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) at 843-661-4825.
