About
Once a warehouse for the Atlantic Coastline Railway, the City Center Market and Kitchen is now the community's hub for anyone looking for locally grown or raised foods, and for entrepreneurs who need a place to make, bake, and sell their goods. It is unlike anything else offered in the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina. The red-hued steel canopy above reminds of us of the site's original multi-barrel Quonset hut; and wooden beams original to the structure have been re-purposed for a gathering place on the lawn. As Downtown Florence grows, this facility will knit together neighborhoods and commercial spaces.
The District hosts food production businesses, a year-round farmers market, a commercial kitchen, and food-production business incubator spaces, all in walking distance of the historic downtown and the City’s Recreation Headquarters with an all-inclusive playground and gymnasium.
The City Center Market and Kitchen improves access for producers and consumers of local food by offering production, sales, and education facilities, hosting informative community programs, and improving city connectivity. The City Center Market and Kitchen is operated by the City of Florence's Local Food Initiative.
