Emergency Response Team (ERT)

About Us

The Florence Police Department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) is comprised of multiple officers from various units of the department.  These officers train frequently to be prepared for any situation that may arise within the city limits of Florence.  Members of this team are put through a vigorous selection process including physical and mental stress aspects and tactical ability tests.

The primary function of this team is the service of high-risk search/arrest warrants, the apprehension of barricaded suspects and hostage rescue. The ERT also partners with many other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to assist in the accomplishment of operations. The ERT performs demonstrations at community events including the Citizens Police Academy.  In an effort to offset the cost of specialty training and equipment, the ERT hosts an annual pistol competition which is open to the public.  These demonstrations and events help foster relationships between the public and our specialized team.
