Recycling

The City’s curbside recycling schedule is the same as the household garbage collection day. The following materials are accepted by the City of Florence Recycling program. We would like to encourage you to help Florence become a better, cleaner city. Thank you for your help.

Plastics #1

Some common uses:
2 liter soda bottles, cooking oil bottles, peanut butter jars

Plastics #2

Some common uses:
detergent bottles, milk jugs, water jugs, spray bottles

Aluminum & Tin

Some common uses:
foil, soda cans, food containers, steel / bi-metal food containers

     
Newspaper Phonebooks White Paper

Newspaper & Inserts

Some common uses:
Newspapers, Newspaper Inserts, Also found in packaging

Magazines & Phonebooks

Tip:
Don’t forget circulars, inserts & most publications printed on white paper

White Paper

junk mail, notebook paper, computer paper

While these materials aren’t collected by the City, they may be taken to Florence County Recycle Centers.

The City provides waste oil sites for your residential used motor oil, which you may generate from your vehicle. 

These sites are located at:

  • Marion St. Fire Station – E. Marion Street
  • Ben Dozier Fire Station – W. Palmetto Street
  • Edisto Fire Station – S. Edisto Drive

These sites are for residential use only. A maximum of 5 gallons per trip is permitted. We encourage you to use these sites for your motor vehicle waste oil.

FLORENCE COUNTY'S RECYCLING CENTERS

Florence County has provided manned recycling centers for the collection of lead-acid batteries, waste oil, appliances, scrap metals, yard waste, furniture, glass (brown, clear, and green), newspapers, aluminum cans, building materials, and plastics (soda bottles and milk jugs).

These sites are located at:

  • Greenwood School – off Highway 51 on Carnell Drive
  • Stadium Drive – off McCurdy Road behind the National Guard Armory
  • Quinby – at the intersection of Highway 24 and 358
  • Ebenezer Road – next to ESAB on Ebenezer Road

Their operating hours are 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., six days per week.  Closed Sundays and County Designated holidays. For more information or locations, call 843-665-3022 or visit Florence County’s recylcing information center.
