DIVISION
 

The Administrative Services Division includes the following Units: Administration, Records, and Telecommunications.

Administration: Located in Room 201 of the City-County Complex. This unit is responsible for the budget, payroll, grants, personnel attendance records, departmental correspondence records, office supplies, mail distribution, narcotic’s forfeiture procedures, maintenance of the computer network, facsimile machines, copiers, imaging equipment and phone equipment, and typing of investigative statements as well as answering calls at the switchboard and receiving citizens for Investigations and the Chief of Police from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Records Unit: Located in Room 213 of the City-County Complex and is open from 8:30 A.M. to 5 P.M. Monday through Friday. This is where all reports written by officers are filed. These reports are transmitted electronically once a month to SLED to become part of the National Incident Based Reporting System. A citizen may obtain a copy of a report for a fee of $3 or $4 if mailed. Also, citizens may obtain record checks for employment, housing, etc. for a fee of $5 or $10 for a record containing six or more convictions. Records checks are done Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The person of record must present a picture ID to obtain this service. Fees for fingerprinting of adults are collected in Records on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2 PM to 4 PM. The Records Unit houses the National Crime Information Center terminal which facilitates the interstate exchange of on-line criminal history record information between criminal justice agencies. Citizens may pay parking tickets in the Records Unit from Mondays through Fridays.

Telecommunications: Located in the basement of the City-County Complex and operates twenty-four hours a day. Telecommunications/data specialists are responsible for data entry of reports, answering and directing telephone calls via the switchboard, monitoring all radio transmissions, dispatching the animal control calls, handling after-hour calls for Public Works and the Water Department, transmitting information on roadway repairs and malfunctioning of traffic lights, monitoring entry into the City-County Complex after hours, monitoring surveillance cameras in the Complex and parking areas, collecting court fines after hours, filing and distribution of all warrants, maintaining the business contact cards, receiving and sending information via fax to Central Dispatch for officers, coordinating fingerprinting of adults, and assisting citizens who come to the desk area for help.
