YOUTH  SOFTBALL

The City of Florence Parks & Leisure Services Department, under a consolidation agreement with Florence County and in association with the Florence Softball Association sponsors a girls youth softball program in the Florence area. The league is composed of five (5) age group divisions open to youths, age 5 to 18. The divisions are: Division 1 - 5 to 6 year olds; Division 2 - 7 to 8 year olds; Division 3 - 9 to 10 year olds; Division 4 - 11 to 12 year olds; Division 5 - 13 to 14 year olds; and Division 6 - 15 to 18 year olds. All ages are determined as of June 30 of each year.

Registration for youth softball is held in February of each year. Fees vary according to the division the participant will play in. Youths participate in an evaluation to determine placement on a team. Special requests for teams, teammates, or coaches cannot be honored. Play usually begins in March and last until July, followed by postseason tournaments. Teams typically play two games per week and practices an additional two days per week. Most games and practices are held at Freedom Florence and Friendship Park.
