The City of Florence Parks & Leisure Services Department hosts a youth basketball program in the Florence area during the winter and summer. The league is composed of six (6) age group divisions open to youths, age 5 to 17. The divisions are: Division 1 - 5 to 6 year olds; Division 2 - 7 to 8 year olds; Division 3 - 9 to 10 year olds; Division 4 - 11 to 12 year olds; Division 5 - 13 to 14 year olds, and Division 6 – 15 to 17 year olds. All ages are determined as of the last day of February each year.

Registration for winter youth basketball is held November 1 of each year. Registration for summer is held May 1. The registration fee is $35. Youths participate in a skills evaluation to determine placement on a team. The winter season begins in December and lasts until February, followed by postseason tournaments. The summer season begins in June and runs through August. Teams typically play two games per week and practice an additional two days per week. Most games and practices are held at Moore and/or Williams Middle School Gyms.
