Every person engaged in any calling, business, occupation or profession listed in the city's rate classification index within the incorporated limits of the city is required to pay an annual license fee and obtain a business license.

Any person opening a place of business or advertising any business, trade, or profession in the City of Florence city limits must obtain an occupancy permit from the Florence County/Municipal Planning and Building Inspection Department located at 218 West Evans Street, Florence.  The office is open between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  After the occupancy permit is obtained, a business license is required by the City of Florence ordinance.

 The City of Florence Business License Office is located in room 602 of the City-County Complex, 180 North Irby Street, Florence.  A business license application may be obtained Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.  Business licenses must be renewed annually.  Licenses fees are based on gross receipts of your business for the year.  Late fees do apply.  For more information regarding business licenses, please call the business license office (843) 665-3173.
