City of Florence Departments & Services

• Financial Administration

  The City of Florence Finance Department is responsible for ensuring that all City funds are managed in accordance with generally accepted principles of governmental accounting. To this end, the Finance Department adheres to accounting best practices to maintain appropriate controls of all City assets.

• Planning and Development

  The Planning and Development Departments main objective is to help guide the future growth and economic development of the Florence community while improving the well-being and livability of the city for the benefit of the people that live here.

• Public Works

  The Public Works Department services, systems, and facilities contribute to the protection and preservation of the public health, safety, welfare and protection of natural resources for the citizens of Florence, ranging from stormwater and wastewater treatment management to trash collection and recycling.

• Police Department

  The mission of the Florence Police Department is to improve the quality of life for our citizens through a community partnership that promotes safe, secure neighborhoods and businesses. Our objective is to be proactive in fulfilling our community's needs, while at the same time delivering quality service upon every individual's request. We are committed to afford dignity and respect to every citizen in the performance of our duties.

• Fire Department

  The mission of the Florence Fire Department is to protect the lives, property and community environment of the citizens of Florence by providing them with fire safety education, EMS First responder Services, incident prevention and emergency response fire protection service of the highest quality.

• Parks and Beautification

  The Parks and Beautification Department is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, supervising and coordinating a comprehensive plan of leisure activities and providing safe, well- maintained parks and facilities that serve the City of Florence residents.

• Emergency Preparedness

  The City of Florence Emergency Disaster Preparedness Office strives to keep citizens informed and prepared for any emergency, coordinates resources with the Florence County Emergency Preparedness Department during an emergency, and provides relief after an emergency.

• Community Services

  The Community Services work in partnership with state, community, and other agencies to provide a range of human and economic development services and activities to help improve the life of its citizens.

• Personnel Department

  The Personnel Department is responsible for the administration, coordination, and evaluation of the Personnel Administration, Risk Management and Loss Control, and Emergency and Disaster Preparedness.
